Design a trattoria, not a restaurant.
A childhood friend, my classmate from kindergarten to high school, was opening a trattoria. We were asked to designthe interior of the new store.
"Casual Italian food for the entire family to enjoy”was the concept. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the goalwas to designan eatery that was approachable and welcoming. We chose to do so with a white color palette.
If completely whitethe interior could have lacked focus, and the planmay not have come together. That’s whywe added touches of color to the booths, tiles, and such, and installed spotlights and line lighting to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
Since the trattoria is set back from the road, we designed an arch over the semi-private booth forimpact and to increase visibility from the street. Furthermore, the pizza station positioned by the entrance and the open kitchen in the dining areaexude an energetic vibe for customers to enjoy.
